Arctic Climate Heartrate Study

Sophie Mothersele’s project investigated whether the Arctic Climate affected the resting heart rates of the group when comparing them to their resting heart rates in the UK. I took the resting heart rates from all 14 participants at the same time each day with heart rate monitors over the expedition. I made sure that it was at the same time to maintain consistency. Darcey Holmes’s personal REQUEST2021 project involved using the arts to explore people’s changing perceptions about Antarctica and how those changes are impacting this fragile environment and unique wildlife for the future.

Studying Ocean Currents

Sam Payne’s personal REQUEST2021 project was to deploy two Argo devices (ocean-monitoring instruments) in Antarctic waters. These are now generating data directly into the international Argo research network.

Climate Change Awareness

Lucy Morgan’s personal REQUEST2021 project looked at educating Scouts and Guides about climate change (particularly in relation to Antarctica). This included designing a ”Stop Climate Change” challenge badge and an associated “Climate Quest” activity website. She also ran climate awareness sessions with young people in Scouting & Guiding.
